Cougar

Good Morning Congin Cougar Families,

Happy Wednesday! I hope your week is off to a great start! This week we have been celebrating our rockstar Congin staff for staff appreciation. It has been so wonderful to see the students participating in our spirit days with rockstar day on Monday and by providing notes to teachers yesterday! Here are other updates for this week:

  1. It is Wednesday, so that means it is an early release day! Students will be dismissed at 2:30pm.

  2. Today is Neon Day for our Staff Appreciation spirit week! Students can dress up in all of their brightest colors! Thursday is wear your favorite band/singer shirts/gear, and Friday is dress fancy or dress like a teacher!

  3. We will be having an assembly today to celebrate our work with inclusion, and we will be rolling out our new theme of creativity! Students will be tasked to decorate a puzzle piece that they will connect with other students, and we will be displaying them in the halls of our school! This will be our last theme for the end of the school year.

  4. Author Francie LaTour will be coming to Congin to meet with our 3rd and 4th grade students on Thursday! Additionally, there will be an Education Extravaganza on Thursday night from 5-7pm at Westbrook Middle School where there will be a variety of educational games, information sessions, and Francie LaTour will be there to discuss her books.

  5. We have a PTO meeting on Monday, May 12th for any parent that is interested in attending. This will take place in the Congin cafeteria from 5:30-7:00pm.

  6. We have our Congin Plant Sale coming up on Saturday, May 17th at Congin School from 10am-12pm!

  7. Don't forget that we are still participating in Hannaford Helps Schools! Everytime you purchase 4 participating products, you will get 3 school dollars in the form of a coupon. On the coupon there is a QR code. Scan the QR code and select Congin School. This will be happening until June 7th!

  8. We have some wonderful new additions to our playground. We have added some large-scale instruments that students can interact with. This is all thanks to Rebecca Spitella and the Warren Memorial Foundation who funded the new musical instruments.

  9. This week, the City Council approved our school budget, and it will need to be voted on by the community on June 10th! If you have any questions about the school budget, please do not hesitate to reach out to me, the school committee representatives or the city council representatives!

  10. This weekend is Mother's Day! I hope all of the mothers out there have a terrific day being celebrated for all that you do!

  11. It's a great day to be a cougar!

Sincerely,

Marc Bisson
