Good Morning Congin Cougar Families,
Happy Wednesday! I hope you all had a wonderful long weekend! It's finally starting to feel like Fall weather, so I hope you and your family have been able to enjoy it.
Here are some Congin updates for this week:
It's Wednesday, so that means it's an early release day! Students will be dismissed at 2:20. Please make sure that you are waiting at the bus stops and coming to pick your child up an hour early.
Speaking of cooler weather, please make sure that your child comes to school with the appropriate gear to be outside. As the weather continues to cool down, we go outside for recess unless it's raining and/or the "feel like" temperature is below 13 degrees, so please make sure that your child comes to school prepared!
We are continuing our work on respect! Students are earning respectful pumpkins whenever they are caught being respectful. We have a goal of 400 by the end of the month. If we meet our goal by 10/24, we will have a "Dress as your favorite book character day" on 10/31.
Remember that attendance is important and that you should be sending your child to school every day, unless they are sick and have a fever. We have a school-wide goal of 96% attendance this year, and as of last week, we are at 96.27%! Please make sure to schedule vacations, long weekends, and extended breaks outside of the school year. This is something the State of Maine looks at when they are evaluating our school, so please help us by sending students to school.
Picture Day on Friday! If you are interested, please make sure you have ordered online or you have filled out the picture day flyer and have paid with a check or exact cash.
Our PTO is holding a Happy Wheels Skate Night on October 24th from 5-7pm. Each skater is $11, which includes the cost of skate rentals. Every student that attends needs an adult there with them, as this is not a drop off event.
We are having a Congin Spirit Wear Sale for anyone that would like to purchase Congin apparel. If you are interested in ordering some Congin gear, check out this website and order from now until 11/13!
Please consider donating your used winter outerwear for our Winter Gear Event! Keeping our Congin Cougars warm and cozy through the winter can cost a lot, financially and environmentally. By working as a community, we can reduce the impact of both. This year during parent teacher conferences, the Congin PTO will host a FREE Winter Gear Event. You are welcome to BRING winter gear your child has outgrown or you no longer need (even better, DONATE in advance!), and/or TAKE any items left by others that will work for your family. Any leftover gear will be donated first to our elementary schools to help students and families throughout the winter and then to Maine Needs. If you would like to donate in advance, have your child bring their old outerwear to Congin, and there will be donation bins around the school to drop off clothes. Let us know if you have any questions!
We are gearing up for our yearly silent auction! Our PTO needs you help in building some themed raffle baskets. I have attached a flyer if you are interested in donating items to these themed baskets.
Check out the attached Paper City Hoops flyer to register your child for basketball. This is for K-4th grade.
It's a great day to be a cougar!
Sincerely,
Marc Bisson
