WHS Drama

Our incredibly talented and hard-working cast and crew took their one act play, Sweep Under Rug, on the road to South Portland High School over the weekend for the One Act Festival. They scored 227 points out of 300, high enough to earn 3rd place, and quite possibly could have won the day entirely. Several of our student thespians were also awarded acting honors, including sophomore Natalie Burr and juniors Ana Libby and Adela Richards.

Here are a few stand out quotes from the judges:

Lighting- "Nice cues, especially between quick scenes".

"One of the best.  Beautiful cyc and areas".

Sound- "Music was well chosen and added to the tension of the story".

Ensemble- "Very much on the same page. Beautiful freezes and tableaus".

                   "Love the circular revolutionaries".

                   "Terrific group work overall".

                   "Nice job with projection".

"The dialogue played off each other and the intro was superb!"

Scenic- "Great use of space and minimization.  Best in Festival".

Overall- "Very good.  A complex piece.  You made it work!"

"An interesting piece!  Nice choices to achieve your goals".

              "Quick, engaging and fun!'

It was a very impressive showing for this amazing troupe. The Blazes consistently outperform the best of the best, which makes us the top dog, right? Congratulations to Keith Anctil and the wonderful cast and crew on another stellar one act season!
