If you have the chance, please congratulate the four members of the Westbrook High School chess team who represented the school beautifully at the State Interscholastic Team Championships on Saturday in Orono.
Yousif Adnan, Leen Rached, Wajeh Rached, and Kevin Tran scored 7 points to finish in a three-way tie for second place in the reserve division. (1st place: Camden Hills Regional - 8.5 points; 2nd place: Orono - 7 pts; Caribou - 7 pts; Westbrook - 7 pts.)
Competing in their first-ever live, on-board, head-to-head tournament, each member scored points; Wajeh led the way with three. All played with focus and creativity, and supported each other wonderfully throughout the grueling, day-long competition.
