Jazz Gold

45 students from Westbrook High School performed at the state Jazz festival yesterday at Hamden Academy. The goal was to score 95 or higher and receive a gold medal. Very few groups in the state achieve that standard. The competition is literally the best of the best.

The Jazz Band (our younger students) received a silver medal with scores of 93, 93, and 92. AMAZING FOR THIS AGE! Great work, Joey Hendricks, with these students! The Jazz ensemble was solid gold! Their scores were 98, 98, and 96! Both the Tuesday Combo and the Thursday Combo also struck gold with scores in the 94-96 range!

Outstanding musician award in the state of Maine (Dale Huff Award) was Orguy Toko!!! Outstanding soloist awards- Gracie Gauvin!!! Dash Coolong!!! Nico Andrade!!! Gavin Monkiewicz!!!

This amazing group is getting ready to perform at the Clark Terry Jazz Festival at UNH today. Winter Guard will be performing in Massachusetts this evening and tomorrow at Wells high school. Huge shoutout to Kyle Smith for continuing to lead this program to the highest peaks! Go Westbrook!
